Community Mandala Collage
Explore, honor and celebrate who and what makes up our communities with a Community Mandala Collage Art Workshop — a vibrant and fun way to practice fine motor skills, develop critical thinking, express gratitude and use imagination!
This is the workshop that launched Community Mandala Project in 2004 when The Bushnell of Hartford (CT) asked founder and teaching artist Donna Gentile to design a vibrant art program with a community theme for second graders.
Workshop explores and celebrates who and what makes up our communities from within our own families to our neighborhoods, small towns and planet Earth. Each ring of the mandala uses a different art technique to create meaning, develop awareness of, show appreciation for, and connect to community. Young children love the variety of mediums they get to work with and the many forms of creative expression, and adults find it fun too!
Participants leave with a 12″ x 12″ colorful representation of their unique community, a treasured experience and an expanded understanding and appreciation for people and things that make up their world.
